Once cleared by your physician, you will receive a comprehensive course of treatment. The results are some of the best in the field of areola and scar camouflage tattooing available today.
Consultation: We understand every client is unique, so we begin with a consultation during which we assess the nature and condition of surgical scars, conduct an areola sizing session, skin sensitivity test, and discuss your desires and expectations. After all, not every client wants to re-create the areolas they were born with; some want them larger, or smaller, or a different color.
Scar Therapy & Camouflage Tattoo: Nearly every client will require a number of scar therapy sessions to prepare the skin to more effectively receive the tattoo pigment and diminish the appearance of surgical scars. By traversing the oscillating tattoo needles over elevated surgical scars, we flatten the scars, resulting in a significantly more naturally appearing tattooed areola and breast. Additionally, once the surgical scars are sufficiently flattened, we are able to “camouflage” the pale scar tissue, tattooing the scar and adjacent skin to virtually make the scars disappear into the surrounding skin.
Areola Tattoo: Whether or not you have elected to undergo the additional surgical procedures to reconstruct a nipple, you can have natural-appearing and matching breasts. We are able to achieve astounding three-dimensional effects using artistic tattoo shading techniques. Over the course of treatment, we masterfully create the client's areola, nipple, and Montgomery glands. Moreover, in the case of single mastectomy, we are able to match the tattooed areola to that of the client’s existing natural breast.
It is important to follow these after-care rules for best results:
— Apply ointment to your areolas 3x/day for one week. (ointment will be provided)
— Wash VERY gently in the shower with warm water and a mild cleanser before you go to bed.
— Apply a thin layer of ointment and a piece of gauze over your areolas within your bra for one week, following your shower. Approximately 50% of the pigment will exfoliate during the week and the gauze will prevent your bra from becoming soiled
with remnant pigment. A light cotton shirt with no bra is also acceptable while healing after the third day.
— For the first three (3) nights, keep your bra on while sleeping. However, starting the fourth (4th) night, sleep with no bra. Instead, after applying your ointment (which you should do for an entire week), sleep with an older night garment and allow your areolas to breathe.
— Toward the end of the week, you will notice that the color will have softened and lightened into a natural color and you may discontinue all after-care instructions.
— Be sure to schedule your "follow-up" appointment 6-8 weeks following your initial procedure.
